Gleeds offices in Eastern Europe get sporty for the Global Challenge
Members of Gleeds staff in Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland have raised over £6,000 through a series of events involving football, kin-ball, and a charity lunch.
To celebrate Gleeds’ 130 anniversary, the company has coordinated a series of fundraising events across the organisation’s 56 international offices in an attempt to raise £130,000 for charity.
Although most of the activities took place from Monday 21st to Friday 25th September, Gleeds offices in Czech Republic kick started on Thursday 10th September when the team competed in the ‘Sue Ryder 2015 Charity Cup’, an annual football tournament to raise money for Domov Sue Ryder - a charity that works to ensure every person in the Czech Republic can age in a dignified manner.
Their neighbours in Slovakia also picked sport as the main fundraising theme. They managed to raise €2,125 (over £1,500) with a kin-ball contest and family games evening on Thursday 24th September for the Slovak Abilympics Association. Not only did they commit to a one-day fundraising event, they also got creative by donating a total of 108 hours grape harvesting, bee feeding, candle making, farming, and baking in preparation for the family fun day.
Meanwhile, the Gleeds team in Poland organised a charity lunch with 50 guests including Gleeds staff and clients, raising £2,300 for Child Home No. 16 in Warsaw. The charity aims to protect children deprived of parental care.
